Jenepher White is an independent, Los Angeles-born, Seattle-based singer, songwriter, and producer—a multidisciplinary artist whose musical journey has moved through Punk, 1940s jazz, Show Tunes, Blues, and Hip Hop. Her music is deeply personal, genre-fluid, and rooted in self-expression, self-love, and authenticity.

Long Bio
Born in Los Angeles, Jenepher White has been singing and playing music since she was seven years old. At 18, while living as a Punk in Hollywood, she wrote her first song and began a musical journey that would continue to evolve across genres and decades. Today, her sound is primarily rooted in Hip Hop, with Blues woven throughout, while her creative influences include Punk, 1940s jazz, Show Tunes, and Rap.
Jenepher's story is one of unapologetic individuality. At 18, she was living in an abandoned office building in East Hollywood, panhandling for a living and spending her nights immersed in the city's underground club scene, including The Masque and Hong Kong Café. It was during this period that she met singer and songwriter Phranc, whose individuality inspired Jenepher to make a defining choice of her own. From that day forward, she has been known as Jenepher.
That decision became more than a change of spelling. It reflected something fundamental about Jenepher's artistic identity—the commitment to be herself. Decades later, that same instinct continues to shape her music. Her songs explore personal freedom, self-love, identity, resilience, and the courage to live authentically.
After a lifetime of being a creative, Jenepher stepped away from music for 25 years following a death-defying brain hemorrhage that profoundly changed her life. In the aftermath, she faced the painful decision to put aside the creative work that had always been central to who she was. She returned to school because she needed health insurance and focused on rebuilding her life. Giving up music, dancing, songwriting, writing, and other creative pursuits was giving up her soul.
Then, 25 years later, Jenepher came back.
What she found was a completely transformed music industry. The world had gone digital, and the doors to independent music-making had opened in ways that hadn't existed when she left. Artists could record, release, distribute, and market their own music without waiting for someone else to give them permission.
So she started again.
That return became the beginning of Jenepher's current chapter as an independent artist. Beginning with Freedom ...When I Got Here and Blues in 2017, she has built a growing catalog of original songs and covers, continuing through her 2026 release Masquerade Ball. Her recordings have drawn responses from musicians, DJs, producers, and listeners internationally.
In 2021, Jenepher was contacted by a lyricist in Greece who had discovered her music and loved her voice. She wondered if Jenepher might be interested in collaborating. Several months later, that unexpected connection became Divide & Conquer.

Jenepher's return to music has become a piece of her creative next phase. In December 2023, Laurie Hardie invited her to participate in Interrupted: Act 2 — Reinventing Your Legacy, a podcast series highlighting women in their second act. Jenepher's story embodies that idea: not simply returning to something she once did, but discovering what it means to create on her own terms after 25 years away.
Her creative life extends beyond music into writing, acting, and dancing. Across all of these disciplines, the through-line remains the same—expression without apology.

Today, Jenepher White is based in Seattle, Washington, where she continues to release music independently, building a catalog that connects a remarkable personal journey with a simple message: be yourself, love yourself, and don't let where you've been determine where you're going.
